Spring Maintenance Guide for Your Grip Mats

Spring pitches can be as soft and churned-up as anything winter offers, especially after heavy rain. Checking them over

After a winter in storage, check the mats for splits or cracking, particularly around the interlocking edges, since these let you link multiple mats together without straps or cords. A quick hose-down to clear off any dried mud will also make them easier to handle and stow.

How to use them

If you know you're pitching on soft ground, position the mats under the drive wheels before you unhitch or level up. If you do get stuck, slide a mat so the tyre starts on the lattice surface, then apply gentle power to climb onto it and move forward. For a longer escape path, the mats link together end to end.
