The Milenco OptiMate 6 is a multi-stage 12V smart charger designed to look after a caravan, motorhome or campervan's leisure battery properly, rather than just topping up the voltage.

What the automatic programme does

It works through a set sequence — analyse, recover or desulfate, charge, test, then maintain — automatically selecting the right approach for the battery's condition. Ampmatic control adjusts the charge to match the battery's size and state, and it's safe to leave connected for long-term storage without overcharging.

Built-in protection

The charger is spark-safe and protected against reverse polarity and short circuits, with a weather-resistant casing and clear status LEDs so you can check progress at a glance. It works with deep-cycle and starter 12V lead-acid batteries, including flooded, AGM, gel and EFB types.

What's in the box

It comes with the charger unit, a crocodile clamp quick-connect lead, a fused ring-terminal lead for permanent fitting, a mains lead and a user guide. Fitting the ring-terminal lead to the battery makes it easy to plug in whenever the vehicle is parked; match polarity (red to positive, black to negative) and make sure there's good ventilation while it's charging.

Left connected for storage
