Essential Maintenance Tips for Wheelclamps

Milenco C13 Wheel Clamp for 13 inch single axle or 14 inch twin axle caravan wheels

Milenco's wheelclamps are engineered for long-term durability, but a little routine care keeps the locking mechanism working smoothly and the clamp doing its job effectively.

Keep the lock mechanism clean

The Original range uses a pick-proof lock with corrosion-proof brass construction and hardened inserts. Grit and road grime can still build up around the lock face over time, so wiping it down and keeping it free of debris helps keep the key turning smoothly.

Check the foam backing

Milenco's wheelclamps include foam backing on the main body to protect alloy wheels. Inspect this periodically, since worn or compressed foam is more likely to let the clamp mark an alloy rim during fitting. A genuine replacement foam wheel and trim protector strip is available if needed.

Note your key number

As with any keyed security device, record your key number somewhere safe. A genuine replacement lock and keys are available from Milenco, but only if you can identify which lock you have.

Fit it correctly every time

The locking mechanism has been re-engineered to make the clamp easier to line up and quicker to fit, so there's little excuse to skip it — check it's suitable for alloy or steel wheels as fitted, and confirm the clamp size (such as C14 for 14"–15" caravan wheels) still matches your wheels if you've changed them.

Storage between uses

When not fitted, keep the clamp somewhere dry to protect the brass and steel components from unnecessary corrosion exposure, even though the construction is designed to resist it.
