Keep the keys organised

This lock is supplied with three stainless-steel keys and there are no master keys available, so losing all of them means losing access to the lock entirely. Record your key number somewhere safe as soon as it arrives, and consider keeping a spare key with a trusted contact rather than all three in the caravan.

Store it properly between trips

The lock comes with its own carry case, which is the simplest way to keep it, the security ball and the keys together and protected from knocks when it's not fitted. Grit and dirt in a locker can find their way into a lock cylinder over time, so keeping it in the case rather than loose is a small habit that helps it keep turning freely.

Check compatibility before every season

This lock is built specifically for Knott KS30/KS35 stabiliser heads and won't fit a Knott Avonride coupling. If you ever change your caravan or tow hitch, it's worth double-checking the coupling type again before assuming the same lock will fit.

Use it correctly

Remember this lock is designed for use hitched or unhitched, but not on the hitch while you're actually towing. Getting into the habit of fitting it as soon as you unhitch — rather than leaving it until later — means it never gets forgotten.
