Getting the most out of the Milenco OptiMate 6 is less about maintaining the charger itself and more about using it correctly to maintain your leisure battery.

Set it up for easy use

Fit the fused ring-terminal lead to the battery permanently, so plugging the charger in whenever you're parked up becomes a quick, one-step job rather than something you have to set up each time. The crocodile clamp lead is there for occasional or one-off charging instead.

Get the connection right

Always match polarity correctly — red to positive, black to negative — and make sure the area around the battery is well ventilated while it's charging.

Leave it connected for storage
