Essential Maintenance Tips for High Security Van Door Locks

The Milenco High-Security Van Door Lock (Twin Pack, SKU 3063) needs little upkeep, but a few checks will keep both locks working reliably.

Record your key number

Three keys are supplied with the twin pack. Note the key number somewhere safe as soon as they arrive, so a replacement can be ordered quickly if a key is ever lost.

Check the fixings

Because these are bolted through the door, it's worth periodically checking the fixings remain tight, particularly on doors that see frequent daily use, such as a side sliding door.

Exercise both locking positions

Since each lock can be secured open or closed, use both positions occasionally rather than leaving it in one setting permanently, so the mechanism doesn't stiffen up from disuse.

Keep the cylinder clean

Wipe down the visible lock body periodically, and avoid forcing the key if it feels stiff — a light application of a suitable lock lubricant in the keyway is better than forcing a worn cylinder.
