Keep the cylinder moving freely

The lock uses a high-security cylinder with countermeasures against bump keys. Grit and road dust can work their way into any external lock over time, so operating it regularly — even when you're not travelling — helps keep the mechanism turning smoothly rather than letting it seize up between trips.

Check the fixings

Because this lock is designed to fit external walls between 25mm and 50mm thick with only a 30mm gap to the door frame furniture, it's worth periodically checking that the lock is still seated firmly and hasn't worked loose, particularly after long tows on rough roads.

Use both locking positions

The lock can be engaged from both inside and outside, which is useful for security while you're away from the vehicle as well as when you're on site. Get into the habit of checking both are functioning correctly rather than only ever using one.

External visibility as a deterrent
