Essential Maintenance Tips for Antenna's

Milenco's Power 900 and 900L antennas are designed for reliable, low-maintenance reception, but a little care around the roof fitting and cabling will keep performance consistent over time.

Check the seal

Milenco recommends sealing roof fixings with a quality, non-setting sealant, and it's worth inspecting this seal periodically for cracking or lifting, particularly after a UK winter, since a failed seal is the most likely route for water ingress around a roof-mounted antenna.

Keep the view clear

Both antennas are omni-directional, but reception still depends on having a clear view — mount level and avoid shadowing by roof boxes or solar panels, and check nothing new has been added to the roof that could now be blocking the signal path.

Cable care

Route the coax and power leads clear of sharp edges and other cables, avoiding tight bends, and power the amplifier from a fused 12V (or 12/24V on the Power 900) supply. Switching the amplifier off when the antenna isn't in use is also good practice for the 900L.

Replacing worn parts

Rather than replacing the whole unit if something fails, Milenco sells the Power 900L's inline amplifier and power injector separately, along with a genuine short base as a like-for-like replacement if the original base is cracked or leaking. Checking which specific part has failed before buying a replacement can save unnecessary cost.
