Essential Maintenance Tips for Aluminium Leveller

Milenco Lightweight Aluminium Wheel Leveller with Ratchet & Carry Case – 1000kg Per Wheel (Caravan 2000kg / Motorhome 4000kg)

The Milenco Lightweight Aluminium Wheel Leveller is a mechanical, low-maintenance tool, but a few checks will keep the ratchet and screw bar working smoothly and help you get an accurate level every time.

Check the ratchet mechanism

Before each use, make sure the ratchet handle engages cleanly with the screw bar. Since the unit is stored in its carry case between trips, it should stay protected from dirt, but it's still worth a quick visual check before you rely on it to lift up to 1000kg per wheel.

Mind the ground conditions

Milenco recommends using the leveller on firm, level ground where possible, and considering a base board on soft surfaces. Levelling on soft or uneven ground not only affects accuracy but can also reduce the achievable lift within the 120–180mm usable range.

Safety checks every time

Always chock the opposite wheel and apply the handbrake before levelling — this matters every time you use the leveller, not just occasionally, since the unit is doing real load-bearing work at up to 1000kg per wheel.

Storage

Keep the leveller and ratchet handle in the supplied carry case when not in use. This protects the aluminium construction and ratchet mechanism from knocks and moisture in transit, and keeps everything together so you're not searching for the ratchet handle when you need it.

Twin-axle owners

If you run two units for a twin-axle caravan, check both are functioning identically before a trip — a mismatch in how smoothly each ratchets can make it harder to get an even level across both wheels.
