Remote Alarm: installation and wiring

The Remote Alarm installs with a simple two-wire power connection to a 12V negative-earth supply. Milenco recommends professional installation if you're not confident with vehicle electrics, and it's worth periodically checking the wiring connections remain secure, particularly if the alarm is fitted in a habitation area that sees regular use.

Remote Alarm: the remote itself

The supplied remote uses code-hopping technology, generating a new rolling code on every press. If you ever need a spare — for a second driver, a lost remote, or a worn unit — Milenco sells a genuine replacement remote alarm transmitter separately, which needs pairing to the alarm following the steps in your unit's manual.

Sleep Safe Alarm: batteries

The Sleep Safe Alarm runs on batteries rated to last more than 1000 hours, or roughly 120 nights of protection while you sleep. Milenco sells a genuine replacement battery pack of 18, so it's worth keeping a spare set on hand rather than discovering the alarm is due a change when you're already away.

Testing regularly

For any alarm, whether vehicle-fitted or personal, testing it periodically — rather than assuming it will work when needed — is good practice. For the Remote Alarm, this also means checking the Panic Mode siren and flashing LED activate correctly when the lock button is held for 5 seconds.
