Essential Maintenance Tips for Aero Mirrors

Aero Platinum Mirror Twin Pack

The Aero Platinum Mirror Twin Pack is engineered for stability and long-term durability, but a few checks will help keep it performing at its best and towing legally.

Check the clamp tightness

The Platinum clamp uses sprung, rubber-faced gripper plates that adjust to the shape of the mirror housing. Even tightening and careful alignment give the best results, so check the clamp is evenly and firmly tightened before each tow rather than assuming it's still snug from last time.

Some vibration is normal

Milenco notes that while the Platinum clamp system reduces movement compared with older mirror designs, some light vibration may still occur on uneven roads or in strong winds — this is normal for extended towing mirrors and doesn't affect the clarity of the rearward view when fitted correctly.

Inspect the materials

Stainless steel and brass are used in key load-bearing areas specifically to resist corrosion, and the mirror glass is high-quality chrome glass designed to avoid discolouration over time. A periodic clean and visual check is enough to confirm both are holding up.

Confirm compatibility after any change

The mirror has enough reach for caravans up to 2.55 metres wide. If you change your caravan or tow car, it's worth rechecking this width limit, and Milenco offers to confirm fit if you contact them with your vehicle's make, model and year.

Know your legal obligation

If your caravan is wider than your car, UK law requires an adequate rear view and suitable towing mirrors — driving without them risks a fine of up to £1,000 and 3 penalty points, so keeping the mirrors correctly fitted isn't just about visibility.
