Plastic vs aluminium

The MGI range (Single, Double, Giant Single and Giant Double) is made in the UK from 100% recycled plastic and uses a large, high-grip tread with four rubber feet for hardstanding and peg holes for pitching into grass. The Original Aluminium and Aluminium Rubber Top ranges use a lightweight aluminium frame instead — the Original has a five-bar non-slip tread, while the Rubber Top version adds a non-slip rubber tread surface.

Safety design

Every step in the range uses Milenco's anti-topple geometry, where the base is wider than the top so it can't tip over under load, and the aluminium single step and the MGI Double are both rated to 200kg and tested to EN1645/EN1646.

Single vs double height

Single steps (like the Original Aluminium Single, 220mm high) suit a smaller gap to the ground; double-height steps (the MGI Double at 185mm/365mm, or the Aluminium Rubber Top Double at 180mm/360mm) break a bigger drop into two more manageable stages — worth choosing based on your vehicle's ground clearance.

Choosing between them

If weight matters most, the aluminium options are lighter to carry and stow; if you want a UK-made, fully recycled-plastic option, the MGI range covers that while still meeting the same 200kg/EN1645/EN1646 standard.
