Caravan and motorhome theft is a genuine risk in the UK — Metropolitan Police freedom-of-information data collected across 30 UK police forces recorded roughly 500–570 caravan thefts a year between 2020 and 2022. A hitch lock that's actually rated to resist determined attempts is one of the simplest ways to make your outfit a harder target.
The Milenco Super Heavy-Duty Knott Stabiliser Hitch Lock KS30/35 is built from 4mm heavy-duty steel around what Milenco describes as its strongest high-security cylinder, and it carries three independent approvals: Sold Secure Gold, SBSC SSF (the Swedish security standard) and SCM MP03.
This lock is designed specifically for Knott Stabiliser heads KS30 and KS35 — it does not fit Knott Avonride couplings, which use a different lock in the same Milenco range. Check your hitch head before ordering, since the two aren't interchangeable.
It can be fitted hitched or unhitched, but it isn't designed for use on the hitch while you're actually towing. Despite the heavy-duty build, Milenco says it's designed to be quick and simple to fit for everyday touring, so it shouldn't add much time to hitching up.
The lock comes complete with a security ball, a carry case, and three stainless-steel keys, plus fitting instructions. Because it ships with its own security ball, you don't need to source one separately, and the carry case keeps everything together in one place — useful if you're setting up a new outfit or replacing lost accessories. There are no master keys for this lock, so it's worth recording your key number and keeping it somewhere safe in case you ever need a replacement.
If you're touring regularly and want a hitch lock with genuine third-party security backing rather than just a heavy appearance, the triple approval on this lock — Sold Secure Gold, SBSC SSF and SCM MP03 — is a meaningful step up from a standard hitch lock, provided your Knott stabiliser head is the KS30/35 type it's built for.
