Comparing Different Steps - Expert Analysis

Milenco's steps share the same anti-topple safety geometry, but differ in material, tread type and height.

MGI Double Plastic Step vs Aluminium Rubber Top Double Step

Both are double-height steps at similar dimensions (185mm/365mm vs 180mm/360mm), but the MGI is made from 100% recycled plastic in the UK with a large grip tread, four rubber feet and peg holes for grass, while the Aluminium Rubber Top version uses a lighter aluminium frame with a non-slip rubber tread surface — a straightforward weight-vs-material trade-off.

Original Aluminium Single Step

The single-height alternative, at 220mm, with a five-bar non-slip tread rather than a rubber surface. At 1.3kg it's lighter again than the double-height options, and Milenco notes it's tested to EN1645/EN1646 and rated to 200kg — the same standard used across the range — while being gentle on awning carpets underfoot.

Which to choose

For a bigger drop to the ground, a double-height step (MGI or aluminium) is the more comfortable choice; for a smaller gap, or where minimising weight and pack size matters most, the single aluminium step is the lighter option.
