Comparing Different MILENCO OPTIMATE Product Range - Expert Analysis

Milenco's OptiMate chargers share the same automatic, multi-stage approach to battery care, but they're pitched at different battery sizes and use cases — so it's worth matching the charger to your setup rather than assuming bigger is always better.

Milenco OptiMate 6

OptiMate 6 tests, saves, charges and maintains 12V lead-acid batteries automatically, with Ampmatic control adjusting the charge to suit the battery's size and condition. It's designed for everyday leisure battery care on motorhomes, caravans, campervans, cars, motorcycles and boats, and is safe to leave connected long-term for storage.

Milenco OptiMate 10

OptiMate 10 steps up to a 10A output for faster, controlled charging of larger leisure batteries, and adds a power supply mode useful for diagnostics or voltage support — such as during ECU memory swaps. It runs the same core save/recover, charge, maintain and test program, with the same desulfation capability to help recover neglected batteries, and covers the same range of flooded, AGM, gel and EFB/Start-Stop battery types.

Which one do you need?

If you're maintaining a single, typically sized leisure battery, OptiMate 6 covers the job with the same automatic safety features — spark-safe, reverse-polarity and short-circuit protected. If you're regularly charging a larger battery from a low state, or want the faster 10A output and the added power-supply mode, OptiMate 10 is built for that higher-output role. Both are supplied with crocodile clamp and fused ring-terminal leads, so either one is easy to fit permanently for ongoing maintenance.
