Aero Platinum Mirror Twin Pack: Features, Benefits and Installation

The Aero Platinum Mirror Twin Pack is Milenco's updated towing mirror, built on the design of earlier Aero generations. It's supplied as a pair, one mirror for each side of the vehicle, and is intended for cars, 4x4s and vans towing a caravan up to 2.55 metres wide.

Clamp and fit

The Platinum clamp system has more depth than earlier Aero clamps and can accept mirror bezels up to 25 millimetres thick, which suits the tapered, aerodynamic mirror housings found on many newer vehicles. The sprung, rubber-faced gripper plates are more than fifty per cent larger than the pads used on the Aero 3, giving a wider contact area that adjusts to the shape of the mirror housing for a more secure, stable fit. The mirror is designed to fit almost all modern cars, 4x4s and vans; if you're not sure it will suit yours, Milenco can confirm compatibility if you provide your vehicle's make, model and year.

Build

The arm has a larger diameter than earlier versions for extra stability, and key load-bearing parts are stainless steel and brass to resist corrosion. The mirror glass is high quality chrome glass, chosen for a long service life without discolouration.

What to expect on the road

The Platinum clamp noticeably reduces movement compared with older Aero designs, though some light vibration can still occur on uneven road surfaces or in strong winds. This is normal for extended towing mirrors and shouldn't affect your view once the mirror is properly fitted. Even tightening of the clamps and careful alignment will give the best results.

Compliance and UK law

These mirrors are fully homologated and type-approved to the international standard UN 46-4, and are suitable for towing caravans up to the maximum legal width in the UK and EU. Under UK law, if your caravan or trailer is wider than your car, you must have an adequate view to the rear and fit towing mirrors suitable for the width being towed – failing to do so can mean a fine of up to £1,000 and 3 penalty points. Buying the pack as a pair, rather than a single mirror, is the straightforward way to cover both sides.
