Complete Buying Guide: Heaters

Choosing a portable heater for a caravan or motorhome comes down to a handful of practical questions: how much power you need, how it distributes heat, and what safety features it has. Here's what to know about the Milenco Swiss Luxx Swivel Ceramic Fan Heater.

Power output

It offers two heat settings — 750 W for background warmth or 1500 W for a faster warm-up — so you can match output to the size of the space and how quickly you need it warm. It runs from a standard 220–240 V AC, 50 Hz mains supply.

How it heats

The heater uses a PTC ceramic element, designed to warm up quickly and heat efficiently, paired with a quiet fan. An oscillating swivel action spreads that warmth around the room rather than concentrating it in one spot, which suits the compact, enclosed spaces typical of caravans and motorhomes.

Safety features

A tip-over switch cuts the heater off if it's knocked over, and an overheat cut-out protects against the unit running too hot. Both are worth checking are functioning if you're buying second-hand, and worth relying on rather than disabling if fitted as standard.

Size and portability

It's compact and lightweight with a stable base and carry handle, making it easy to move between the caravan, motorhome and awning as needed.

Using it safely

Milenco specifies indoor, ventilated use only, kept clear of soft furnishings, placed on a flat and stable surface, and never covered. Unplug it when not in use, don't leave it running unattended, and never use it in a bathroom. On a campsite, always run it from a properly rated RCD-protected supply.
